Brisbane CityWorks: Maintaining world standards for Brisbane
Council’s divisions are always striving to meet the highest standards of operational excellence to ensure we can steer Brisbane towards our Vision 2026.
Brisbane CityWorks (BCW) is leading the way by having its certification for Environmental, Quality and Safety management system standards renewed by NCS International.
NCS International is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Association of Testing Authorities and is one of Australia’s largest and most experienced third-party certification bodies.
Brisbane CityWorks A/Executive Manager Graeme Martin said maintaining certification to national and international standards was fundamental for CityWorks.
“As we strive for a culture of continuous improvement, third-party accreditation is a vital element that ensures we remain open to change,” Graeme said.
“In NCS we have a partner with extensive knowledge and expertise to guide us down the path of improvement.”
Brisbane CityWorks’ Risk Management Team is responsible for maintaining third-party certification, identifying and minimising operational risk and managing BCW’s Integrated Management System.
This quality management regime audits BCW’s work procedures across the business to ensure compliance with national and international standards.
BCW Risk Manager Phil Hunt said this accreditation was an excellent way of benchmarking CityWorks competitively against external suppliers.
“Our internal clients within Council are assured the work we do for them meets the highest standards and delivers value for money,” Phil said.
“It also assists us in gaining additional accreditation with the Queensland Department of Main Roads and Energex.”
