TAFE NSW – Northern Sydney Institute (NSI) Director, Kevin Harris, College staff and NCS International (NCSI) Pty Ltd CEO, Greg Jewson recently attended a ISO14001 certificate presentation at NSI’s North Sydney College.

The ISO14001 certification follows NCSI’s completion of 18 external audits of teaching sections and operational units with significant risk to the environment. Full Story

In 2001, Donald Gibb saw a demonstration of a new high-pressure processing (HPP) machine at a CSIRO Information Day. He saw the potential for processing local Victorian stone fruit into yoghurt and dairy products, and began market feasibility studies. Full Story

Eraring Energy has become the first Australian energy company to gain independent certification for its coal fired power station in the Hunter Valley to the International Standard for greenhouse gas reporting, ISO 14064.  Eraring Energy successfully achieved ISO 14064 certification before the looming October 31 deadline for major greenhouse gas emitters, including energy companies, to report their greenhouse emissions under the Federal Government’s National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) legislation.  Full Story

Nearing a century of providing an exceptional health service, Mater Pathology has been a vital lifeline for many people across Queensland and Northern NSW. Privately owned by the Sisters of Mercy, Mater Pathology offers a full diagnostic and consultative service. Operating out of the head office building in South Brisbane and many other collection centres across the Brisbane area, Mater Pathology has the capacity to manage more than 800 beds, which are filled by private tertiary referrals all year round. Merging the lifeblood of a state
With any state health service, it is important that the health of the business is as sound as the speed of its response. So when two such organisations merge, it is vital that the systems are consistently applied across all of the business. This is what happened when Ambulance Victoria emerged as the result of the recent merger between Metropolitan Ambulance Service, Rural Ambulance Victoria and the Alexandra and District Ambulance Service. As one of the driest continents on earth it makes sense that Australia takes a proactive approach to managing its water needs. Behind the politics around the Murray Darling Basin and other national water resources, a number of Australian organisations are successfully working to protect one of our most vital resources. While water management is clearly a national issue, most providers are confronted on a daily basis with issues that cross local, regional and state borders. Abergeldie achieved third party certification in 2007. Pace Farm started as an egg company in 1978, with one property and 22,000 hens. Now, in 2009, it is one of Australia’s leading providers and marketers of eggs, with over 2 million hens on over 20 farms.

The success of Pace Farm is largely due to a keen focus on producing quality, fresh, great tasting eggs. With recent market concerns about the origin and handling of eggs and egg products, Pace Farm has recognised the importance of being proactive in the management of food safety requirements.

For many years, Pace Farm has been certified to the HACCP Food Safety Standard with NCS International (NCSI). So when the Australian Egg Corporation introduced the new nationwide Egg Corp Assured program in 2004, Pace Farm did not hesitate in implementing it. Full Story
